"Rural doesn't mean left behind better services for every corner of the township"
Fire coverage isn't equal across all three wards. Paramedic response times in remote areas can be dangerously slow. Seniors who want to stay in the community they've built their lives in often can't find appropriate housing locally. Young families can't afford to start here. Community halls the social backbone of rural townships need ongoing support and investment.
These aren't separate problems. They're all symptoms of a township that hasn't kept pace with the needs of the people who live here.
I will push hard on fire equity renegotiating service agreements to ensure all wards receive fair coverage, and boosting volunteer pay and training to support the people who respond when things go wrong.
On paramedics, I'll advocate directly to the County and Province for additional coverage or a new base where response times are unacceptable. On housing, I'll work to audit unused Township land for tiny home and modular housing pilots, require 20% affordable units in any major residential development, and explore reduced permit fees to encourage local building.
