The Real Situation

Taxes creep up every year, and budgets can feel confusing and disconnected from daily life. Residents who try to follow the money often find themselves lost in jargon, bundled votes, and documents that take hours to parse.

When you trade off services for lower taxes, someone pays the bill later. Right now, the bill is our roads and our children will be left to fix what deferred maintenance has compounded over decades.

North Frontenac cannot keep learning by trial and error at the taxpayers' expense. Fiscal discipline is not optional it's a responsibility to every person paying property taxes on a fixed income, running a small business, or trying to build a life here.

My Position

My grassroots platform is designed to be financially lean from day one using existing budgets, provincial and federal grants, and targeted new revenue instead of broad tax increases. No big spending sprees. Just smart fixes that save money long-term and make life better here.

I will push for one-page plain-language budget summaries that any resident can understand, full breakdowns on all council votes, and a genuine Q&A opportunity at the end of every meeting before adjournment. When we work together, we grow together.

Specific Commitments

• 1Publish one-page plain-language budget summaries annually written in plain English, not municipal jargon.
• 2End bundled council votes on spending items every significant expenditure gets its own recorded vote with a full explanation.
• 3Open a genuine Q&A period at every council meeting before adjournment, so residents can ask about any agenda item.
• 4Build up emergency reserves steadily so the township isn't caught flat-footed by the next wildfire season, infrastructure failure, or economic downturn.
• 5Pursue a 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax on short-term rentals (Airbnb etc.) bringing in an estimated $150,000–$250,000 annually without touching local property taxes, earmarked for roads, housing, and community improvements.
• 6Target keeping tax increases at or near inflation plus 1% and report publicly each year on whether we hit that target and why.
